Launhardt GmbH was founded in 1997 with a focus on plastics processing. Products for shipbuilding, mechanical engineering, process engineering, office supplies and mask production are manufactured as part of the extrusion process.
In 2020, the PowderMonkeys brand was founded and, based on in-depth research and development, the most innovative polymer powders for professional 3D-Printing were produced and distributed.
Powder-based additive manufacturing processes are mainly used for industrial 3D-Printing. Here, fine thermoplastic powders are applied in thin layers and then melted, for example using a laser in Selective Laser Sintering, SLS, or using an IR-Radiation in High-Speed Sintering, HSS.
In this way, high-strength three-dimensional components can be produced economically without support structures.
Direct Manufacturing – Manufacturing Serial Parts directly from the CAD
This technology is now well beyond the prototype stage. For this reason, it is referred to as Direct Manufacturing, as no tool is required for the production of components. Depending on the size of the component, quantities of up to 1 million units can now be produced economically with powder-based 3D-Printing.

SLS – Manufacturing must become Economic and Ecological
The PowderMonkeys have focused primarily on the ecological and economic properties of the powder materials. Dr. Martin Launhardt, Managing Director and idea generator at Launhardt GmbH, emphasizes “We believe that only sustainable materials with low refreshing rates or even recycled materials can reduce the costs of 3D-Printing in the long term and at the same time meet the high legal standards in Europe”.
